TV - HTPC Connection: HDMI

Primary screen is VGA thus i can surf etc. while MP uses secondary screen with audio/video served over HDMI - this works very well.

MB has realtek audio built-in - and i can use this on the VGA while MP audio passes through HDMI.

Problem: When using remote to control volume the volume controlled is the realtek - wave or master volume. How do I setup MP to let the remote control the HDMI volume????

    1. Im not sure if u can pass 2 different audio outs at the same time..at least im not sure..u can try selecting the "audio renderer" in MP to "HMDI out"(or whatever its called) and set Windows' default audio out to "PC speakers"...havnt tried but i guess it will work.

    2. If the HDMI runs passthru to an amp..then the PC does not control the audio anymore. Audio volume would be controlled by your connected device(ie amplifier).

1: this is infact my setup - and it works very well..
2: the connection is hdmi->tv, so no amp in-between..

Anyone have any ideas how i get the remote to control hdmi audio in MP?

Firefly is RC remote.... Also - it seems a bit excessive to scrap a setup that works in all aspects *EXCEPT* volume control...
Perhaps this should be a point for improvement of MP for 1.2.0 - let MP volume control be assigned to the designated audio handler - in this case hdmi...

Problem solved - kinda... HDMI audio set to default, so the remote controls that... And my music player (squeezeslave) set to use the realtek speaker out...
i believe that other sw players have that capability - foobar2000 comes to mind...
