How to configure volume control under MP and Vista x64?

Whatever I set under MP setup I cannot control master volume as expected.
Via MP I can only change application volume, so if master volume under win is set to 10% I can't set louder volume under MP, or when I set master under win to 50% I can't decrease the MP volume to acceptable for the night. It is muted and only one press on the plus button is to loud.

Help please !

I'm having the same issue: Sound set to "vista" and "wave" in MPconfig. I've tried setting it to "master", with no result. Is there a way to make the volume control in fullscreen MP change the system master instead of just the application volume?

There is a simple, easy way to fix this...

Right Click the shortcut to Media Portal, choose properties... Go to the compatibility tab, choose to run in compatibility mode and choose Windows XP SP3... Then, if you choose media portal to change the master volume, it will... Works like a charm here, Windows 7 Ultimate

Unfortunately, setting XP compatability mode just disables the sound control on my remote.

I've turned on HID Device remote control device as well and it enabled volume for my control after enabling XP compatibility mode.... It is a MCE2 remote (Philips SRM5100). Give it a try.

This worked for me, awesome, a lot was looking for a fix!
