No one with this problem anymore? Still having it, even after rebooting. Used the posted core.dll, but no luck.

Three people have looked at your logs, so hopefully someone will have an idea. Please bear with us, and the more people who can test with this core.dll the better (since the problem should have affected everyone).

What value does the volume have on SPDIF based audio? I'm running Win 7 premium using SPDIF via HDMI and never touch the volume on my PC. Even if I play around with the volume inside MP it has no effect since only the Mute will stop SPDIF from passing to my A/V receiver.

Or am I missing the point here? (rhetorical) I'm just mentioning this as digital audio is either on -or- off

In my case it is happening with analog audio ouput from an onboard audio card. So I don't know what happens if you use audio output via SPDIF.

Its normal behavior for digital source because audio provided as is. Changing sound level have to be done on receiver (after changing it to analog).

This is true only for the bitstreamed formats. With PCM stream the volume control should work (unless drivers are buggy).

Yes, i mean for all pass-through formats level cant be changed.

Makaveli i have another idea why it happens but i need to test it first.
Ill provide new core this evening or tomorrow.

What do you mean by Sound section? I have listed some possible things here...
In MP Configutation -> Music -> I have as player the internal dshow player with the default directsound device.
And in Codecs and Renderer section I have the Audio renderer set on: loudspeakers (Realtek High Definition) on all tabs there.

I saw the new MP version (RC5), but I didn't see a fix for this problem. Can I help some more to help the developers reproduce this error? Because it's very annoying when the volume goes to the max.
