Rekenaar/Helios, Thanks for the quick reply and the possible fixes. At a high level, I am really looking for a replacement for our VCR with a slick interface like MediaPortal or Windows Media Center. I also want to be able to record in one place and watch in many. Having to convert the files, unfortunately defeats the purpose. Quite frankly, I don't know if what I am looking for exists. I also want this to be something my whole family can easily use. Do you know if there is a way to modify MediaPortal to record in a format that WDTV can read without having to touch the files after the shows are recorded? :thx: for your advice and thoughts. Oh and Rekenaar, you are correct. It plays just fine in MediaPortal
