the video stream of weak channel does not recover after a signal drop
example
signal drops from 100% to 40%
the screen pixelates then freezez
the signal is now at 100% but does not resume
you must stop the channel then start it again
this goes on and on while the signal is weak

this happens only in live tv
recorded tv recovers and resums when signal is good again

    Hi again charettepa

Got some logs? One would guess that since playback of recordings can restart then the difference in behaviour can be put down to TsWriter...

this one is harder to reproduce
    as it requires weak signal
when i get home tonight i will monitor the channel
as soon as its weak i will run watchdog

does it have to be done on server
or can i do it on client??
it dosent appear to happen on the server

Well the TV Server logs would have to come from the server... obviously... and I don't mind whether you use the client or the server for reproducing. It seems illogical that the server would not suffer under the same conditions as the client, unless you are using different codecs on the two machines. It could also be just chance that you haven't observed the issue on the server side.

I can confirm this issue with my DVB-S2 setup. Had a severe storm last night and signal droped extreme. The TV server did not crash, this is realy a major approvement and fixed in this release but the TV stream itself goes from stutters to curruption to freeze and then total freeze. Stuttering can be recoverable but if it goes on for some time the channel freezes and can only be put in motion again by stopping and starting the channel.
Not a big bug in my opinion as a crash of the TV server service is not the case, that was realy bad in previous releases.

I have one ATSC station that I can only get 84% signal strength...at times. It will drop to 40% or 56%. Just checked it, it's doing it right now. Under 1.20 Beta, I would have like problems as the OP and pixelation/channel lockup would occur even at 84%. With 1.20 RC, no problems. Sure it lags but no pixelation and no channel lockup, This is "viewing" the channel. I have not tried recording the channel since I figure, why bother. Also note, I do not watch the channel when it is doing this so the time spent watching this occur is likely only 2-3 minutes; ie, I'll see it is not going to keep an 84% for me after this time so I move on. So for me, and my particular tv card and MP configuration, it has yet to be a problem with 1.20 RC. Thanks.

I wanted to confirm this problem :)

Did you try the patch from Tony (owlsroost)?

i have tried the modified tsreader mentioned
it seems to help on live channels that are weak
    however causes a new issue
if a recorded show had a brief cutout or weak signal
instead of pixelating and contibuing or just stuttering
it stops the stream all together and returns to the recorded shows list
when you start it again it does not resume
    it starts from the beggining
in order to get past the error you must fast forward over it otherwise it stops again
