WebEPG newbie needs help (1 Viewer)

I am trying to use the WebEPG utility but it does not appear to be working for me.

I am following the instructions on this page:
http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/MediaPortalSetup_WebEPG

I am in the Central time zone. After updating using WebEPG-conf.exe, I run WebEPG.exe. I still do not have any entries in my TV Guide.

Can anyone expand on the instructions given or give me a debug path to follow so that I can better understand what I need to do? Perhaps some baby steps to show me how to set up just one channel?

Thanks

Hi longlostname

WebEPG produces a log file called webEPG.log which may give some debug pointers.

It will probably be found in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Log for Windows XP or in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Log if you are running MediaPortal under Vista.

Bear in mind that the "Import" function detailed in the Wiki only currently works if you are using MediaPortal on its own. If you have also installed TV Engine 3 and the associated MediaPortal plugin then the channels have to be added manually.

Mew,

Thanks for the response.

Here is the contents of my webEPG.log:
2007-07-21 10:33:17.687500 [Info.][MPMain]: WebEPG Config: Loading Existing WebEPG.xml

Really not much to go on. Can you give me some insight to this?

Thanks

Taipan,

I am in Texas, USA.

Here is the contents of my TVGuide.xml file:

- <tv generator-info-name="WebEPG">
-

<display-name>5</display-name>

</tv>

I have set up only one channel until I get this figured out.

Have you configured MediaPortal (via Setup) to get the EPG from the TVGuide.xml file?
>>>>>>>>>>>

Yes.

Please remember that I am a newbie and I don't know how this is supposed to work. Thank you for your help.

The TV program information should be in the TVGuide.xml file between the tags
and </tv>.

Could you please launch WebEPG.exe again and when it completes, attach the resulting WebEPG.xml file, webEPG.log and TVGuide.xml files to your next posting here? This might give us a clue as to why you are not getting any program information.

I see in the log file that there is a message related to Central Standard Time not being a valid Timezone. I don't understand what this is telling me. Is there something that I should be reading or doing that I have not done?

    Thanks

It looks like yahoo may have changed their web page layout - if you go to the link http://tv.yahoo.com/tvpdb?d=tvs&id=...neup=us_Central&.intl=us&startdate=1185104677 (as shown in your webEPG.log file), a blank page is returned ... hence the reason that you are not getting any TV program information.

I am not sure what you can do about this, except to PM James (the author of WebEPG) to see if he knows of any changes to the yahoo site, and if he is able to update the US grabber with the new layout?

Are you using the latest version (0.2.3.0RC1) of MediaPortal? This issue with yahoo's layout change may have been already corrected in the latest release?
