Ok all you people who have gotten WebEPG to work on a song and a prayer. Now it's time to give back!

I know I'm close to getting this, but still so far away....

I installed MP 1.1 RC2 and did all the usual config stuff. Got all the channels, the WebEPG plug-in config, blah blah blah.

Even did Grab now and it said it finished successfully. But I guess that was a developer's bad joke on me.

So I downloaded EPG Download Manager, following someone's suggestion on this forum. But I haven't a clue what the db server login ID and password are...and anyway I don't even know if the download manager is going to be the answer to my woe.

I've read dozens of posts and most all the guides and wiki on this forum. None that I've found address this problem. One thing's for sure, getting this to work is a common problem that just about everyone has had.

So I'm looking for someone who's miraculously figured this out, I'm guessing by contacting the spirits in another worlds for the answers. Since I haven't gotten the spirits to talk to me yet, is there anyone out there willing to share how to get me home?

    May help, obviously not WebEPG, but we are a bit stuffed without a U.S developer to correct any issue found.

    Is the file generated inside the C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv folder (folder must contain the xmltv.dtd file), damn your on XP, ok to find were this is, goto START menu\team-mediaportal\mediaportal tvserver choose logs and go up one folder level, there you will see the xmltv folder, keep that address as a link, may come in handy for checking when the epg is updated.

    Thanks for trying, Ray.

    I found a free working EPG.

    Mc2xml supports grabbing from media center, titantv or scheds direct.

    1) create a folder C:\program files\EPG (you can put it anywhere)

    2) Download mc2xml and extract to the folder you created.

    mc2xml

    3) put the xmltv.dtd in this folder with mc2xml

    3)Run Mc2xml, enter your area code and select your preferred grabber (titan and scheds direct requires a account)

    4) Rename the output file tvguide.xml

    5) In your media portal TV server configuration in the guide configuration point it to tvguide.xml

    On this last step I imported the tvguide.xml file into TV Server Config and it came back with "0 channels" imported. WTF?

    Any tips that Ray or anyone else can give me would be awesome. I'll buy you beer if ever you're here (i know, that's a miserable offer)

    Hasn't anybody in US gotten this $%&#$@ thing to work? :D

    All, having just been through this little journey, I'd like to do my little bit to contribute to y'll.

    For further details see post #9 from here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ion-support-53/setup-webepg-ota-hd-usa-50377/

    So basically from the post, I learned 2 things.

    First, go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\WebEPG\grabbers\US (this is where XP put it; yours might be slightly different; do a search).

    There you will find 2 xml files: Yahoo and IMDB. I ended up revising the IMDB one myself. For safety, always backup a copy of the original IMDB file and mess around with the copy.

    2 things you have to do to make it work. Make sure that the Channel id="XXXX" is the same as the one in your TV-Server configuration and put in the siteID found in IMDB. In my experience, they were simply the 4 letters of the station. You can find out for yourself by going to imdb.com and putting in your zip and your provider.

    Second modification was to put in the zip and the tv_prov into each channel entry.

    So below you will see my edited xml file:

    <Grabber>
    <Info language="en" availableDays="14" timezone="" version="2.0" />

    <Channels>

    </Channels>

    <Listing type="Html">
    <Site url="http://www.imdb.com/tvgrid/[YYYY]-[MM]-[DD]/[ID]&start_date=[YYYY]-[MM]-[DD]" post="" external="false" encoding="" />

    <Template name="default" start="">
    <SectionTemplate tags="TB">
    <TemplateText>

<#START>

<#TITLE><#DESCRIPTION>

    </TemplateText>
    </SectionTemplate>
    </Template>

    <Template name="Details" start="Genre:" end="Plot Keywords:">
    <SectionTemplate tags="A">
    <TemplateText>

    <#GENRE>

    </TemplateText>
    </SectionTemplate>
    </Template>
    <Sublinks>
    <Sublink search="/title" template="Details">
    </Sublink>
    </Sublinks>

    </Listing>
    </Grabber>

    Then you save it into your /Grabbers/US folder. Then relaunch TV-Server Configuration and then unmap everything, and then Auto Map it on the first screen under Plugins-WebEPG.

    Some important notes: I had it save directly into the TV Server database rather than mess with XmlTv. Then hit the Grab now! button and you should see it grabbing.

    You will notice that I have chosen to use a cable provider's EPG for my OTA lineup and that's because IMDB did not have an OTA lineup for me to choose. It actually turned out better as all the programming data is the same and even better in the cable provider's EPG.

    Feel free to shoot any questions.

    It took mine about 1 hr to finish grabbing so do realize that it will take some time. I have it doing the grabbing everyday.

    So for y'll you will need to change the Channel id = "" and the siteId="" and the zip= and tv_prov=

    I'd recommend that you change the xml file in the Grabbers/US folder rather than copy and paste from my post.

    So this is working for me at least to map up the channels to the EPG. I just want to warn those who will try this to use an XML editor and not just note pad and that you can find your tv_prov= in the address bar when you put in your info to imdb.com. You can even select you local provider (e.g. cable).

    I just want to say this is, by far, one of the best guides I have seen on this site, especially for US EPG users that are hitting their heads up against the wall trying to get something to work for them.

    Steve, I have not had issues using Notepad. Is there a particular reason why you suggest using an XML editor?

    I started using MediaPortal a couple days ago after WMC was giving me issues, and I love it! I registered just now specifically to thank mundy5 (and marcsulf in another thread) for the very helpful instructions in getting my TV Guide working for my OTA stations.

    I figured there had to be a free and somewhat easy workaround for this, and after 3 days of reading dozens and dozens of posts, googling like a mad man, messing around with XmlTv and whatnot for far too long, this is what finally worked for me.

    I know this is an old thread, but it totally deserves a bump. Not sure why its not stickied somewhere or in the wiki... maybe it is and I just missed it, or maybe someone new like me should offer to help throw it in a wiki, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggled with this before now.

    So thanks again.
