    Hi STSC,

you could try the OmniSecure Server from Omnicron. It is free, you only have to update it from time to time. Perhaps this server also works with the webinterface.

    Hi STSC,

I installed your package, but I can't get the apache2 service work.
    The manual server start works.
What's wrong with it? Does it not work at all, or just special parts? Do you have any error messages? What does the Apache error.log (MPWebcontrol/apache/logs/) say? Please also make sure that you don't have any other webserver running.

The only thing what I don't like at all is, that I do have to install 50MBs for a small interface. Isn't there a smaller server for PHP?
Yes, that's a point I totally agree with you. I'm not happy at all with this right now. But I think that's not only an issue with Apache. Just the php-folder for example has a size of 20MB.

So I really don't like the idea of changing the webserver. Apache is IMHO the best webserver available. And it's open source. I don't know what the OmniSecure-people would say if we "redistribute" the server in our installer package. I also don't know if it's as flexible in configuring. Right now we have an automated process in the installer that adds the MP/thumbs/tv/logos folder to the webserver shares. Don't know if that is possible with other servers.

What we should do is delete not needed files from the apache/webserver directories. I just had a quick look and saw for example oracle or pdf-support which we really don't need. I'll investigate this a little more and then I hope we'll get this damn package a little smaller :)

STSC, Flip, thanks for your comments.

What about a WAP/WML Version, so I could change my recordings with my celli. Thought about this, when I waited for my train after Cebit this weekend, looked through the evening TV Programme and got home too late to see the beginning.

    And is the WebPlugin Password-Secured?

Yes, it is. Password is set during the installation.

I couldn't find the Apache2 Service at all in the system control ("Dienste").
I also will write you a PM today or tomorrow because I implemented the assembly resolver in the External Control Plugin II, so I could tell how to use it (you don't need all you core.dll, .... in you WC folder) and the other thing is there is also a way to have the "interact with desktop" checked by the installer.

I used OmniHTTPd quite alot a couple years ago, also in Combination with PHP, but I haven't liked it that much. (Right now I prefer ASP .NET, it's way more powerful.)

I don't know if you have tried it but there is a .bat script in the web interface folder that registers apache as a service. I'm not at home right now so i can't tell you the exact name and location of the script but i'm sure you'll find it. If i remember it right it is in the apache folder...

I get this error messagen when I try to install it:

    Installing Apache2 as an Service...
[Tue Mar 15 10:51:36 2005] [notice] Disabled use of AcceptEx() WinSock2 API

The only thing what might cause this trouble is the IIS, but I have to install it, because I do need Microsoft Visual studio.

    STSC:
We can't use OmniSecure because it doesn't support ASP.NET - the apache web server not only serves the PHP web interface, but also the Web Service that works with ECP2.

And yes, you have to disable IIS first, because apache won't run if it can't use that port. Think about it this way, how would windows know which program to pass the connection to if you have two programs running on the same port? That's what ports are for after all. You can't change the port for the web interface either, unless you change the config file and and the web interface code.

And the thing about including the MP dlls - that's my fault. I forgot to leave them out when I put the installer together. I'll remember it for the next version.
