Ok I have MPExtended with WebMediaPortal installed.

I currently use the Custom Data Grabber patch/plugin with the Sky EPG Plugin
Its available here : - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/custom-data-grabber-with-plugins.96767/

This plugin installs a new mediaportal SVN and tvserver svn which is patched to give an option to record and select "Series Link"

When I view the schedule option in WebMediaportal I only get the usual options , I dont get this Series link option coming up.

Is it possible for me to edit MPExtended/WebMediaPortal so I can enable this Series link option in the WebMP schedule interface ?

Where about would I look and what would I need to edit.

Thanks

No idea what "Series Link" does so I can't really say if it's possible to implement it in WebMP... If you are a developer and would like to add this feature, you should join in the #mp-extended irc channel for further talks...

I've no idea about this patch, but until it's in standard MP we won't support it. You can of course come up with your own patch, but I'd need a bit more details about what you want to assist you with that.

Isn't MPExtended implemented with MEF?? So that it is possible for him to add a 'Data Grabber' extension? or is there something I have misunderstod??

We don't have the concept of "data grabbers" at all: we don't keep our own database. We get all our data from external databases, such as the TV Server database, MovingPictures, MP-TVSeries, etc.

The media part (movies, tv series and music) is indeed implemented with MEF, which allows to create a plugin (called provider) that loads data from another database. However, the TV part (including scheduling) is limited to the MP TV Server and doesn't support this. That makes sense once you think about it: there are quite some different ways to manage your movies (Moving Pictures, MyVideos, MyFilms, etc), but everyone uses the same TV server (except for people using 4TR, but that one already has its own webinterface).

But before things get any more concrete, someone really has to explain a bit more what the "series link" is. I can't make much sense of the link in the first post, which seems to be more about a plugin interface for the TsReader (and doesn't explain what series link is at all, except that it's implemented). It's no standard MP feature as far as I know.

Ok I'll explain what series link is. Basically it isn't something you would probably want to implement as its restricted to Sky UK and maybe others buts its implemented differently in each I think. Its just more something I would want to try and edit in.

But basically I use the custom data grabber with the Sky UK EPG Plugin which is also on that page in the first link.

Now this sky plugin allows it to grab all the EPG data exactly how sky do it. Its different from the standard built in grab epg method.

Anyway basically for all programs in the epg sky tag a special id to it. And when you do a series link your basically recording all programs/episodes which have this tag in the epg. So a program can start at different times every week and it will still record.

Anyway DJBlu (the coder) has edited the MediaPortal files to add in this series link option into the interface so you can select this option from inside mediaportal in the Guide menu.

I'm not sure how it works and it's probably quite complicated to do so it doesnt really matter. I'd have to find out how he adds it in to mediaportal and then what to edit to call it from webmediaportal
