What is the average cpu usage of tvservice while streaming? (1 Viewer)

I am new (in writing) to the forum and I have a question regarding MP that I have installed recently.
When I am wathing a satellite channel (eg ZDF HD) the tvservice.exe is using about 15-28% of the cpu (athlon x2 4850e 2x2500). Because I don't have any previous experience is this number normal?
I have disabled EPG grabbing.

CPU usage for TV Server (TvService.exe) should be quite low unless you use it to preview channels. Maybe around 5%. Usage for MediaPortal will depend on what kind of channel (HD h.264 or SD MPEG2) you are watching and whether your onboard video card is being used to decode the video or not (hardware acceleration, also called DxVA). HD channels might use 50-80% if you don't use the video card hardware for decoding.

Hi again and thanks for the answer.
I also believe that the cpu usage of tvservice is high (if I also compare it to the DVBViewer recording service which is below 5%). I 'll check again everything and come back to report if I find something. It's quite strange why this is happening.

I should also have mentioned that TV Server will use more CPU if you are using an analog tuner that does not have onboard hardware encoding...

I have an analog tuner but I din't mention it above because I rarery use it in my htpc. I have configured it in tvserver but I only stream from the satellite card.

Hi,

I have the same motherboard and started off using the onboard ATI 3200 card. I did find it a bit underpowered and HD video was a real struggle. I did get an ATI5550 after a while. I have never monitored CPU usage, but you may find the onboard card borderline and will not give sufficient peformance. You may be using the CPU and not the GPU - a method of checking this is to download a GPU monitor; there are several available online for free.

I don't have any problem playing HD files with low cpu usage. I use the PDVD8 or ffdshow codecs and the cpu is under 5-8 % when I use dvbviewer for satellite and XBMC for movies.
I started using MP because I want to use one program for both operations. But I think that the tvservice cpu usage is quite high and I want to solve this issue before moving to other matters.
