    Hi pclare,

I tried your tool and it looks very well. Tried it on three transponders in Munich (I have to start it manually on each frequency. No transponder is broadcasting the entire epg data). I was just wondering what happens, when your program starts and mp is currently recording sth with the dvb-t card? Or if your tool is grabbing epg data and a scheduled recording in mp is about to start? Will this lead to errors in either application? Maybe a small "wrapper" plugin to your application would be nice that checks if mp is currently using a card or if a recording will start within the next 10mins before launching dvbguide ... ?

    Regards,

    Did anyone work this out??
My standalone MP does not like getting the guide from the dvb-t stream,, it will do a few days for 1 channel and nothing else.. But on STBs it brings up the guide quickly and easily..
Could MP be configed to do this at 1:00am or something(or use 1 tuner devoted to this task for all the channels)

Using webepg isnt great for me as I'm in a regional area in Australia and the webepgs are a bit lacking(in capital cities it is perfect)

That program dvbguide looks promising- but a little difficult to make a single tvguide.xml file that has all the chanels rolled in it. Maybe it can-- i'll have a closer look.

    A bit more info.

In the UK, behaviour of DVB-T and DVB-S cards is completely different:-

The DVB-T cards (well my Pinnacle ones anyway), pull in a full 7 day EPG from a single channel. The whole process takes just under 14 minutes but grabs all data for 75 DVB-T channels. This is obviously the reason why people have recommended increasing the EPG timeout above the default 10 minutes for UK users.

Freeview Satellite channels typically only pull in about 4-17 channels per transponder and take about 1-3 minutes for each one. On my setup I have over 30 transponders in use. Unfortunately, Sky only broadcast the 'Now & Next' EPG on freeview satellite. This means that I can only just grab all the available EPG data in an hour and short programmes can result in gaps in the EPG.

Also, on my system, the DVB-S EPG grab for Film4+1 stalls so I have to disable that one otherwise the whole thing falls down.

It would appear that it is therefore beneficial to grab any satellite EPG data I can from the web and only enable DVB-S EPG grabbing for satellite channels that don't have a working web grabber.

A big improvement that could be made to MP would be to add a separate option for each card for the DVB EPG data for all channels on a transponder to be updated whenever switching to a channel on a new transponder.

how did you increase the epg timeout?

how did you increase the epg timeout?

This applies to the TVE3 EPG settings in config, for uk recommend 15, instead of default 10 timeout.

Australian EPG is a real nightmare the best solution seem's to be Big Kev's guide, your more likely to get epg solutions if you look and post there.

This looks like the best thread to post this, so here goes.

I'm using TVE3 server and client. In NZ the Sky epg isn't encrypted so the epg grabber gets the epg fine and I have confirmed it is all in the MySql programs table (17500 rows). The trouble is in the client I am only getting some of the epg freeview channels in the guide on the client and not any channels from Sky, even the unencrypted channels (TV1, TV2)

I have selected all the channels that have a source assigned in the "TV Channels" so I should get something in the guide, that is confirmed in MySql as "visibleInGuide is set to "true". I have one instance of each encrypted Sky channel set as "Grab EPG for channels" in the "TV Epg grabber" tab and one instance of each encrypted sky channel selected as (grab EPG only) in the "TV Mapping" tab. All that is working fine as I have the data in MySql.

I deliberately haven't combined channels so I know which source. I am getting some of the epg from for both freeview DVB-T and DVB-S. e.g TV1 is "TV ONE"and "TV One" from Sky. So I've got 2 "TV ONE" in the guide but no "TV One" or any other Sky channel.

So any clues as to why all the Epg isn't being displayed in the client?

Its not an NZ specific problem.

Regardless of how it was captured, all the EPG is in the program table (17000 rows) and all the channels are in the server database but they aren't getting displayed in the client.

So where would be the best place to post this thread?

    Your right

But with the setup you have, you are more likely to find someone who has had exactly the same problem and found the workaround.

Not every post read by all.
