    AW: What Next

Maybe for the first time, that's right, but MP2 has so much improvements, especially a lot of eyecandy stuff (like animated backgrounds) that it is from its gui superior compared to other applications, further more there is no limit to integrate complete new features.
The problem with the TvServer is that if you add support for one card you maybe break the support for another card or get some other problems.. and you just need some time to write such a big part from ground up new... But it is always a step back if you start from zero again, you have to see the future =)

Everyone who is refering to the so called superior XBMC should just read their posts towards the way they are implementing TV as a frontend for different backends.

    Like this one
Point is that creating a PVR backend is millions of hours of work, something we don't have the resources nor want to spend the resources we have on. Especially when there exist really good solutions for most platforms. We focus on making an interface which can easily integrate with any backend, be it designed for XBMC or not.

And i really don't know why anyone moans about the development speed of the tv server part. The reason most users are using XBMC is the speed and this will be targeted with MP2 BUT in addition to that there will be an existing well tested tv server integration.

Exactly my point. Why not improve or recode a good feature? I think one of the MP2 devs mentioning that a new TV-Server will not be released with MP2 but may be done after MP2.
Often, to improve or recode a feature in MP1 it would require taking most of the core apart and starting pretty much from scratch anyway. This would still leave legacy parts of the system intact, like communication interfaces between modules. This would not be a good thing long term. To change some fundamental design issues with the core of MP1, you really would be re-writing it from scratch anyway, so making a clean break from the start is definitely the best thing to do. Without a complete rewrite some features would be impossible, for example, Picture in Picture, DVB-MHEG ("red button" interactive services), and that's just in the TV portion.
