Currently : Remote : Peekton IR 900 (Universal remote with learning ability) Receiver : MCE A few Months ago : Hauppauge 45 buttons with its receiver bundled with the HVR 1300 A few weeks ago : i replaced the hauppauge Remote with an universal remote (the peekton one) : no problem A few comments : The Hauppauge is perfect to control MP, thanks to mPod (i think he is the one who wrote the plugin). The problem is that my living room is big and at more than 4 - 5 m the remote doesn't respond very well. In fact this is due to the receiver which has a realy poor sensitivity. A few weeks ago, i was upset by the receiver that wasn't seeing all the commands of the remote. I had the opportunity to buy on ebay a mce remote with it's receiver. out of the box, the remote worked perfectly. i was very surprised with the sensitivity of the mce receiver that was really great. Since i have used this receiver, i didn't loose any keypress on the remote, and it changed my life ! unfortunately, nothing is perfect ! i was unable to learn correctly the code of the mce remote to the peekton universal remote. i was very disapointed ! after a few search on forums i found HIP wich is able to handle any remote with the mce receiver. so i decided to use it. I configured HIP to send keystroke to mp using the hauppauge remote. No problem, it was quiet easy. when done, i reconfigured my universal remote with the hauppauge, and now, all work fine !
