What Remote with XP Home Edition (1 Viewer)

I use a Dell Inspiron 5100 with Wnidows XP Home Edition 2001 Service Pack 3.

I have AMC / MyFilms / MediaPortal 1 RC1 working Great.

I hooked up the laptop to a TV using a S-Video cable.
The DVD Movies I copied to an External Hard Drive. Which is attached to the laptop by USB cable.
Using MediaPortal I have no problems viewing the Movie's on the TV. Works Great.

What Universal Remote and Hardware do I need to work with the setup I have now, so that I can sit on the couch and operate MediaPortal from there?

What other (if needed) software do I need?

You could use a mce remote, but with a laptop you would have a nice 3 inch brick sitting there (receiver with a very long lead).

Worthwhile looking on ebay for a remote that is recognised as a HID device (needs no software) and has a small receiver that plugs into a side\front usb connection.

That option may not be the best remote, but it could be very easy to setup.

Would you copy and past this ebay web address below and check out the MCE Remote. Do you know if this (Dell Media Center Remote Kit for MS Windows XP MCE) will work on my Dell Inspiron 5100 XP Home Edition 2001 Service Pack3?

If you don't know for sure, what do you think my chances are to get it to work?

Dell mce remote works fine with XP pro, not sure about home.

Which is the actual M$ remote, with the power button for TV or whatever you program it too.
