Been using Mediaportal for almost three years now. Been a bumpy ride! Started off with a substandard system, that I have since upgraded. Had loads of problems in the early days, but the last year has been a dream. And just when I was feeling comfortable it happened...

Recently Channel Five stopped working (I think after a rescan). Tried rescanning but had no luck. I then completely uninstalled MP and reinstalled. Scanned both DVB-T tuners (Nova-T500) and all seems fine - all channels found. Tried timeshifting in "Manual Control" and worked fine.

Then tried in MP. I selected BBC1 from TV guide and it just hangs MP. Then ended MP in Task Manager (it didn't say that MP was not responding by the way). Tried loads of times with no luck. Ended up clean installing Vista, reinstalling MP and still the same problem.

I thought my Nova-T500 must be up the creek, so I bought a cheepie dual USB tuner from maplin. Scanned for channels and as before have no problems. Tried in MP and exactly the same thing - just hangs when you select BBC1.

I then tried installing MP 1.0.2 (instead of the 1.1 Beta). Same problem.

Here's the weird bit. I found that if I start TV on the Dave channel, it starts fine. I can then change to any channel and it works! This only seems to work with the Dave channel (I've tried on many others and it hangs).

    So, what's that all about?!

I've found that I can often start TV with BBC1 if I forward to the end of the TV buffer (like the old days!). Doesn't always work.

    Any suggestions guys?

Never mind, I'll try and get the logs and post in the bugs section (never done this before...)

Yeah, yeah - I'm aware I'm just talking to myself!

I tried changing the TV decoder from MPC to the Mircosoft one and all is well. Not sure what the implications are of this - but it's working so I'm happy!

I remember having to do that for my previous system as well. Funny that that old problem should come back.

Thanks Spragleknas. I managed to get the logs. Easier than I thought. I wont open a bug report though - no one else seemed to have the same problem as me in the forums so I guess it's not serious. At least the Microsoft decoder works and I have my system back.

I'll post the logs anyway just in case somebody has the same problem in the future and stumbles across this...

Eh ... I'm a bit "reduced" due to illness, so I didn't manage to read your posts 100 %, but FWIW, only Cyberlink seems to work 100 % for TV here (using DVB-S, Astra2D - see "My System" <-- Please fill out yours See:How to show System Specs)

Oh dear, get well soon x

I'll definately fill in my system specs for next time I find a problem. Can't now, I'm only half way through a 24 hour shift at work!

    Thanks...
