Can someone please explain something to me ?

I have now tried MCE, Media Portal and SageTV, but for some strange reason MP is the only one that needs the aspect ratio to be set manually.

MCE and SageTV can do this automatically... Why can't MP do it too ??

    Very annoying..

    Thanks for the reply Taipan...

It is annoying because when i set to normal, everything looks stretched..
If i set to original, it all looks too small..

With MCE and SageTV, i never had this issue.. it always looked right..

    anyway...

btw.. i am using MP on a normal 4:3 TV ( CRT type ).

Set the pixel ratio in the gui.
Settings, -> Screen Calib -> Screen Calib
Get the square as square as possible.
For example if I outputted 720x576 (pal) on my old widescreen CRT TV then I would have to set the pixel ratio to 1.42. Thus movies and icons don't look stretched.

with me it depends, for TV i use original, for DVD's i use Stretch and sometimes 14:9 and for other stuff i usually use stretch... which if they're 4:3 get stretched on my HDTV badly but meh.
