Where to get the Euro MCE remote (2 Viewers)

Perhaps this has already been answered but at least I didn't manage to find the information so I ask.

I've built myself a HTPC that works just like I want it but I still need to get a TV-card and a remote.

As I understand it the MCE remote is a good choice for the remote but in order to get the 4 coloured buttons (which I supposedly want) it must be the Euro version. That's just fine but where do I find it? I live in Sweden that unarguably is a part of Europe but the web shops here only seem to sell remotes without the buttons in question.

Since I also need a TV-card I though about buying the HAUPPAUGE WINTV HVR-1300T MCE KIT since that includes a MCE remote but then I realised that it doesn't have the famous buttons.

So, I then looked at buying the remote separately (http://www.dustinhome.se/dacsaportal/?ProdID=5010077819)
which differs from the remote bundled with the Hauppauge card but still doesn't have the buttons. This is the version that all the web shops I've visited seem to sell.

Exactly how many versions are there of this remote, which one do I really want (and why) and if I indeed want the one with the four coloured buttons, where can I find it in Sweden. I tried to contact customer services at my favourite shops to ask them if the images listed on the product pages are accurate and up to date or if they belong to old versions of the products but they, of course, didn't have a clue. Please advice.

And while I'm at it, anyone seen any internal receivers for the MCE remote?

Well, that's the thing, if you take a look at that page you see that the remote doesn't have the buttons in question. But I don't know if this the image is of an old version or if it is the remote that is.

Hah, you used to beat the crap out us in skiing so many years so now it is our turn for a decade or so ;)

Tried searching for those buttons, but only found one picture of one
that is fluorecent. Checked the Microsoft library and it didnt mention any
colored buttons.
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/documentation.aspx
Also check the Technical Data Sheet.

"Key Sets: Media Center Start Button, TV Power, PC Power, Record, Stop, Pause, Rewind, Play, Forward,
Replay, Skip, Back, More Info, Directional Keys, OK, Volume +, Volume -, Channel/Page +,
Channel/Page -, Mute, Recorded TV, Guide, Live TV, DVD Menu, Alpha/Numeric Key Pad,
Clear, Enter, and Teletext (not available in all configurations.)

Had mine for about 2 months now and havent missed any buttons:)

Well, that's the thing isn't it. It seems like there's a lot of different models. Since you did a search on Microsoft.com it isn't strange that you couldn't find any info about the buttons since the US version of the remote doesn't have them.

Take a look at this picture to see what I'm talking about:

And as I understand it from this forum there are some crucial functions of MP connected to these buttons.

According to discussions in this forum things like:
Red: Toggle between fullscreen and windowed media playback
Green: Same as large MCE green button, returns you to the home window
Yellow: Invokes the context-menu, where applicable.
Blue: Toggles between the various aspect ratios during media playback

All nice functions (except the green one) that one really want. Especially the functions provedied by the red and yellow buttons are nice. Can't really imagine controlling MP with a remote and not have them.

If they have them as oem part it's easy for the shop to check as these remote are packed in a clear plastic bag. By the way the shop where I bought it also had the wrong picture in there online shop. But they where selling the EU MCE2005 remote.

The coloured buttons are quite handy, only thing is at the moment they don't work for the fucntions they are intended for (teletext navigation).

Yes, that was what I suspected but when I called a number of web shops none of them had a clue. But how about the remote that comes with the HAUPPAUGE WINTV HVR-1300T MCE KIT, does anyone knows which version that is.

Concerning the functions connected to the coloured buttons, is there any way to get them even if I get a remote without the buttons?

Aaah, now I can, at least to some extent, answer my own questions. After finally manage to get hold of some people that had a clue at my two favorite web shops I've got some explanations.

Remember that this info is only valid for komplett.se and dustinhome.se, I don't know how it is at any other shops.

The OEM remote that both shops sell is the US-version and thus doesn't have the buttons. The version that comes with the HAUPPAUGE WINTV HVR-1300T MCE KIT is the Europe-version and have the buttons but it is not the 2005 model so it isn't backlit but it has all the other functions. However, I'll learn my amplifier's remote the commands from the MCE remote anyway so I'll probably not use it that much once this is done.

I've now ordered the TV-card so I guess I'll have to wait and see if this holds true. I'll let you guys know if not.
