Hi

I've searched around a bit, and I've probably seen the answer to my question several places, but I don't seem to understand what to do anyway. Noob, yes I know :sorry:

Gear
I have the Asus P5N7A-VM motherboard with Nvidia Geforce 9300 and HDMI output.
AV-receiver is Onkyo TX-SR707
The receiver is brand new and support all the new HD-formats and is hooked up to a 5.0 speaker setup.
Newest Mediaportal version due to the need of subtitle support. 1.1 I guess....

Question
What do I need to do to get surround sound from the htpc to the receiver?
I've tried SAF but I couldn't make it output surround sound, so I've removed ALL codecs and mediaportal stuff and made a new clean install of mediaportal.

So what should I install to make it all work and what settings do you use to get the multichannel HD-audio from htpc to receiver?

Is haali media splitter and ffdshow a good start? MPC?

I'm very happy for all answers and links that can help me! :D

I forgot to mention that I use Windows 7 if that makes a difference...

I have now discovered that the codecs weren't the problem, it was the WIndows HDMI audio output driver. Reinstalled this one and I have surround sound.

Still interested in HD-audio though...
