Hi,

I am looking to get a dual tuner DVB-T but not sure which to get?

I'll be installing MP on an XP machine and would like the S3/S4/S5 to work as it should.

Which is most compatible? Hauppauge? Compro? Peak? and which model?

Thanks in advance.

Rather than create two threads the same, but for different regions, thought I would ask the same question here.

Built a new box to run MePo. AMD dual proc, with 4 gigs of ram (Shared) 64bit Windoze 7 and now want to purchase a dual TV card that will plug straight into MePo and fire up without having to do any hibreed card mapping, as per another box in the house with an older card.

I am in Canberra (at minus two degrees right now) but am looking for a good quality dual turner that works out of the box.

    Any advice, from anyone?

    Hi folks

From a team perspective, recommendations are always hard to give for several reasons:

    1. If we get a recommendation wrong then we can be blamed for giving you the wrong advice.
    2. We want to support all tuners. If we start saying that one tuner is better than others then some resellers/manufacturers may decide not to help us support their products.
    3. Local availability and costs may vary. Hauppauge seems to be about the only "universal" brand. Other brands such as Compro, Peak, Avermedia, Pinnacle/PC TV Systems, Leadtek etc.... supply and cost vary widely.

Rather than asking us for a recommendation, why don't you tell us what is available and ask us if there are any known problems with them. That would be a question we could reasonably answer.

My experience is that DVB-T tuners based on the AF9015 chipset are pretty good (and cheap) e.g. Kworld 399U (dual-USB, which I use) or Peak dual DVB-T PCI card (which is 2 x USB tuners + USB host controller integrated on a PCI card).

But it's hard comment on standby problems because it can be motherboard/bios dependant etc

(and these are my personal opinions and do not necessarily reflect the views of the MP team etc ;) )

I'd recommend going with 1.2.0b if you buy an AF9015 based product - some people have reported slow graph-building issues when using more than one tuner with pre-1.2.0b versions... should be fixed in 1.2.0b. I'd agree that on the whole they're definitely a reasonable choice. :)

BTW - I've no experience of running the AF9015 under XP (I run Vista on my HTPC), but I think jameson_uk used to run a Peak Dual PCI card under XP, so you might want to search for posts to see what he thought about it.

Thanks for the replies and I totally understand the issues with recommendations.

I can easily get hold of the below dual tuners for about the same price. Are there any know issues with MP and XP? All PCI and I like the S3/S4/S5 to work and these would be installed on a ASUS Commando motherboard.

Apparently the T 500 takes a long time to reinitialise after standby. The TD 500 could also be affected. I'm going off the warning in TV Server configuration in the general section - no experience of this myself. Also take care that you do your research - I recall one of these models having issues depending on whether there are two aerial inputs or not ("diversity" model). Can't find the thread and can't remember which is bad/good...

    Any of the Compro
Lets just say they wouldn't be my first choice from a manufacturer support perspective.

At least some of these are af9015 based. The previous comments apply...

Hi thanks for the replies. The peak website reports: Compatible with Windows XP, Vista & MCE so looks good there.

Paranoid Delusion, does it work with S3/S4/S5? Is it quick to change channels?

    Thanks
