I like to investigate, with which resolution you run mediaportal.
I use 1024 x 768 as windows resloution and think the icon should be bigger.
So far there was not much support from your side for this request. So maybe you are all on 800x600?

P.S: not sure if the bigger resolutions have all the right size. Too lazy to look them up

Here a quote from my other post on the effect of different resolutions:

    O.K. I did some "testing":

The number of icon for the "big icon View" depends on the monitor resolution (windows):

with 800x600 you get: 3 columns, 2 rows
with 1024x768 (my htpc resolution) you get: 4 columns, 3 rows
with 1280x768 (my desktop resolution) you get: 6 columns 4 rows

what I´d prefer is about the size of the icons of 800x600 maybe a bit bigger, but in 1024x768 resolution.

I´ll make a poll what resolution people prefer for mp. maybe i am the only one using 1024x768.

The true resolution of my Plasma is XGA 1024 X 786 so I use that as my primary resolution for my HTPC.

    On my 'normal' PC I use 1280 x 1024.

    I use 768x576 or 720x576 for PAL TV-out
On a normal PAL TV its absolutely nonsense to use anything higher then this. The TV can only display 768x576 (thats with overscan) or
    720x576 (without overscan)
If you use 1024x768 everything gets scaled back to 768x576 by the tv-out video chip on your tv card. This becomes very very ugly
    So my suggestion:
    - for PAL use 768x576 (50HZ)
    - for NTSC use 640x480

You can use tools like powerstrip, tvtool etc to setup the 768x576 resolution

    frodo, you made a point.
    backscaling can´t be reasonable.
I´ll try to set up the tv appopriate resolution.

Ditto to nchmura. I also have a Sammy DLP HDTV with 1280x720p resolution. However, I run my PC resolution at 1248x702 to eliminate overscan. Both of these are 16:9 widescreen ratios.

Like many HTPCers, I use my HDTV more as a PC monitor than a TV. This way I can use the bigscreen to surf the net, watch DVDs from the dvd drive, edit/view photos, listen to music from the harddrive, watch TV thru the PCI tuner card, etc. The point is, all of this is done on a 16:9 AR "monitor" so we really need skins designed for that ratio with resolutions that scale nicely up to 1280x720 or higher.
