I'm waiting for a hd-dvd ide/sata driver to be released with a reasonable price.
Any ideas on when that will happen?

I have seen quotes of $800 for burner

The addon HD-DVD for xbox360 should sell for $199. At that price it might be worth ripping out the IDE drive and stuffing it into my HTPC.

What bugs me is that if there was no DRM, I would buy the content on any format that they could deliver, a stack of DVD-roms, whatever. The studios would make more money from me that way. And we all now that the pirates will win anyways.

I sure hope that the nvidia drivers are hacked so that I can view content without purchasing a totally unnecessary graphics card

I've read that the usb based hd-dvd player for the xbox 360 is possible to use with computers if an interface / application for it is developed.

I'm planning on buying the xbox player and has begun collecting hd-dvd movies already

one thing that is causing me headakes is HDCP and the requirements is has for hardware and software.

the guy has a blu-ray backup too. you can already download hd-dvd rips from the internets. They come in around 20-30 GB.
