Hi,

I just read that I have to uncheck "Use Exclusive DirectX mode - avoids tearing" to bring back full screen playback of DVDs/videos/TV. Everything was working so far but suddenly fullscreen playback didn't work anymore - I see a black screen now. Don't know what setting/additional software is responsible for this.

What may be the reason? Any ideas?

I ask because without this setting enabled the picture is no longer stable - it's flickering.

Many thanks in advance.
Harald

Did you install Power DVD orsomething like this? I did, and since then I got this Problem.
I can fix it by entering Setttings/Movies/Video Codec an choosing the already chosen codec again (!?) . Strange thing I cannot explain yet. Any ideas anybody?

thanks for your answer. Very strange here.

I had to 1.) re-select all MPV/MPA dropdown-lists in the MP configuration, 2.) switch off "Start MediaPortal in fullscreen mode" and 3.) switch off "Autosize window mode on skin".

After these changes I could re-select "Use Exclusive DirectX mode - avoids tearing". Now when MP starts I have to enter "Full screen mode" manually and then fullscreen playback works again.

If "Start MediaPortal in fullscreen mode" is switched on _AND_ "Autosize window mode on skin" is switched on, the "Use Exclusive DirectX mode - avoids tearing" brings back a black screen when entering TV-fullscreen or video fullscreen.

Thanks
Harald

P.S.: I just saw a recent patch for configuration not loading all sections, this was one part of my problem and your experience. On top of that I seem to see additional problems on my system.

No. I'm on 2.3 too.

I have to set "Start MP in full screen mode" to OFF and after MP starts I have to use the menubar to fullscreen MP. That works always.

If I set "Start MP in full screen mode" to ON I don't have fullscreen TV and I don't have fullscreen videos. The screen is black then.

I had the same problem, without Exclusive mode selected my screen was not flickering, it was like almost too slow to update fast moving pictures, when you watch sport for example. If the exclusive mode selected - blank screenin full mode.
The solution I found was switch off VMR9 in directshow. I am also using PowerDVD 7 codec.
I actually don't see any picture quality reduction, so these two options are staying off, until fix is available.

Hi,

let me close my thread. I just found a different forum thread that mentioned that a font change to 96dpi would help. Yes, it helped! I now can start MP with Windows in fullscreen mode and everything works fine.

Thanks
Honey

I'm having the exact same problem, using 0.2.3. When I went to fullscreen in TV or Video, the screen went black but I heard the audio. But thanks to this post, I turned "start in fullscreen" off and now everything works fine.

The poster above says he found a fix, he says to change the font to 96dpi...where do I do that?

That setting is located under Windows display settings:

Display settings -> Advanced -> DPI setting
