Is there a reason the Moving Pictures deletes files for missing movies before looking for new files?
The reason I ask is that I've just re-organised my files to free up some room on a hard drive and found that Moving Pictures had to re-download details and artwork for over a hundred movies.
Could you not scan then delete unused files?

Short answer:

Your problem is solved in 0.7 but only if you re-organize with mediaportal running. Re-organizing when mediaportal is not running will still act as you described. An issue to support "offline" re-organizing without loosing data is already on our todo list.

Long answer:

We understand your problem and we've already taken action to avoid this behaviour in 0.7 when mediaportal is running and the plugin is active (does not have to be the current plugin). However this still is an issue when mediaportal is not running or the plugin is not active. Release 0.7 will catch renames/moves within the same import path and update the entries accordingly. For the offline part of the issue I already created an entry for it a while back. Excuse the somewhat technical issue description but i can assure you this is your problem Keep tags on that issue and you'll be notified when this is solved (targetted at 0.8)
