Background:
I am running a single seat (client and server on the same PC) setup.
My router is flaky and so I used the info in this thread https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/msloopback-device-singleseat-users-51028/
to setup the MSLoopback device and bind the TV server to it.
Problem:
I'd now like to setup my laptop as a remote client of the TV server. As an experiment I configured the mediaportal client on the laptop without un-binding the TV server from the loopback device. The laptop managed to connect to the TV server and even downloaded the TV guide from the server - but it would not start streaming the channel.
I restored the binding of the TV server to the NIC and could then stream to the laptop (as you would expect) - but now the client / server on the single PC is subject to network loss
Questions:
Why is this binding of the TV server to a specific network adapter necessary? Surely if the Mediaportal client is able to access the TV server over any available TCP route it will work? And how come even if the TV server is bound to the loopback adapter the remote client can still connect and obtain the TV guide but not the channel stream?
