Why MediaPortal 2 ? (1 Viewer)

I have checked out the wiki and looked a bit through this forum.
What is/are the biggest differences in MP2 from MP1?
I figure since it's a major version number change there must be some fundamental changes.
I guess I am looking for more than a "what's new" or a change log. But I haven't even found either of those.
Can someone point me to where I can read about this?

...but don't expect to find a changelog of differences between MP1 and MP2, because MP2 is not based on MP1. It is completely different.

ok, its a complete re-write.
I guess what I am after is, why would I switch from MP1 to MP2? What difference will it make to me? I did look at the wiki but it just shows a few plugins that it has. Is that that all?

Do you understand the difference between stable and "alpha" software?
MP2 is a work in progress. It is not yet at the level of MP1 in some respects. People that like to try new things and have influence over how MP2 does things would try MP2; other people who like full features and stability would stick with MP1... for now.

... but of course you can install both on the same PC and make your own mind up!
