I have a 26 inch widescreen lcd tv, and have it setup with 780i (or something like that) res. Most of my movies are 1.85, but some are 2.35, 2.40, 1.33. I really dont like the black bars on the sides or on top and bottom. I know i can zoom , but have to change it back and forth. Is it possible to have mp, or another program change resolution for each video depending on it's aspect ratio?

How does everyone else handle this?

I personally prefer the bars so I get to see the movie in the original aspect! The difference between a 2.35 and a 1.85 isn't that much - the bars are quite small.

Anyway, back to the point - my TV has an "auto aspect" mode that will detect the black bars and automatically zoom - I understand this is quite a common feature with widescreen TV sets, does yours perhaps have an equivalent?

The "S" key

I'm using a TFT widescreen at 1280x768 and, till MP developers have an "auto-change" function, I prefer to press "S" to change aspect ratio (or a remote control button assigned to "S" key).

Maybe you knew it
