hi basically i tried installing mp onto my old laptop just so i had a nice way of viewing divx away from home, but i havn't got passed starting the program because it looks like the attached image

can anyone give me any clues i've installed it before on this machine and i'm sure it didnt do thattho i never got round to using it really

Not much to go on here - but my guess is that your gfx is not DX9 capable (or even close)

just found some more info on my gfx, it appears to be dx7, doh! is mp a complete non-starter then?

MP relies on some items that were not introduced untill directx9 so, yes that may be your problem
