will Mediaportal work alongside WMC? (1 Viewer)

I am completely new to any media PC software, having just bought a revo nettop for this purpose.

I have just downloaded mediaportal but i'm worried that if i run it, it will muck up my mce in some way? is this right?

I want to use them both for a while to compare them.
BTW I am using win 7

it is possible, but TV-hardware is locked when used.

You can with the 1.1.0 RC2 version, see settings under 3rd party something, the last item, but it is all from the memory atm.

You can disable the MCE start by going to Windows Control Center/Programs features and disable MCE feature from Multimedia group (from my memory).

I'll try and give a reasonable solution, install MP without TV, when the installer asks do you want TV, select NO.

Then you can run MP side by side with MCE, and try out most of the current plugins (except TV based ones).

Be aware if using MCE remote, do not press any of the special keys whilst running MP, ie TVGuide etc, they will launch MCE.

IF using dvb or atsc card, the main difference between the 2 TV structures is the ability to record more than one tv channel, which MCE is limited too, so if say a dual dvb-t tuner for UK, user can record upto 12 channels at a time over two transponders, if only there was that much worth watching

Also MP records in .ts format which unless encrypted, carries no DRM, so any editing software will work with it.
