Hi, I'm new to the forum and to Media Portal.

I have an HP Pavilion HPE desk top with an i7 processor, 64 bit, 1 terabyte hard drive and 8 GB of ram, running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have a Ceton InfiniTV 6 PCIe, 6 tuner card and have been using Windows Media Center for a couple of years now.
It has been reliable and I've been happy.
I see now with Windows 10 there is no more Media Center, so doing a Google search I came across Media Portal.

My questions are, #1, is my Ceton 6 tuner card compatible with Media Portal? #2, Is Media Portal compatible with Windows 10?

Thanks for any help!

    Hello and welcome! :)

My questions are, #1, is my Ceton 6 tuner card compatible with Media Portal?
    Yes.
    Wiki answers questions like this.
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...System/01_Supported_TV_Cards#Supported_Tuners

CableCARD tuners: Ceton, Hauppauge and Silicondust tuners are supported. ATI TV Wonder support is unknown. Silicondust tuners require 20130708beta1 firmware or later.

I recommend you use MediaPortal 1 and follow the instructions here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/cablecard-tuner-support-for-mediaportal-1.112585/

Make sure you install the patch linked in that post.

#2, Is Media Portal compatible with Windows 10?
Windows 10 hasn't been released yet... but yes, you can install and use MediaPortal on the available W10 builds.

With regard to CableCARD tuners, I should say: keep in mind that MediaPortal can't allow you view or record "copy once" channels (WMC can/could). Depending on your cable provider that may be fine... or it may be a problem.
