I installed MediaPortal 1.02 first and then installed the latest HDHomeRun software (08302009). This was on a clean install of Windows 7 and I still couldn't get it to scan under MediaPortal. Vista and XP are fine, however. So I then exported my channel list from an XP install to use with Windows 7. This appeared to work fine until I began switching channels.

On the first channel switch the first tuner light comes on (all appears to be normal). The second channel switch is not, it turns off the first tuner and moves to the second tuner (second tuner light comes on). If you try to switch to different channel after that you'll get either an unable to timeshift, unable to make graph, or unknown error. No active tuner lights are lit on the HDHomeRun.

I then decided to try it on a different Windows 7 PC and the results were the same. Even with the new MediaPortal 1.1.0 Beta I have the same problems and symptoms. I've even tried several older versions of the HDHomeRun software with Windows 7, but the results never change.

The only way I found to keep this from happening was by starting a recording which tied up the first tuner. After I did that, the second tuner would switch to different channels just fine. Still, this isn't acceptable and hopefully the MediaPortal development team and HDHomeRun can figure out what's causing these issues in Windows 7.

Attached are the logs from a 1.0.2 install. I can provide 1.1.0 Beta files as well.

The latest SVN build 09-17-09 fixed the channel switching issue for me, but I'm still not able to scan under Windows 7. The tuner lights on the HDHomeRun never come on while it's attempting to scan. Anyway, I'm just glad channel switching is working fine now.

My Bad...

It appears that the HDHomeRun can scan successfully in Windows 7 with MediaPortal 1.1. The tuner light that indicates it's scanning doesn't always light up when scanning QAM frequencies. I decided to scan again and walked away from the PC (scanning is usually a 10 to 15 minute process). When I returned it showed it had found some new channels, but the tuner light wasn't flashing like it normally does. Two more frequencies went by without the light coming on, but on the third the tuner light began to flash and it listed it had found some new channels. I guess it only lights up when it scans an unencrypted signal whereas before it flashed on every frequency attempt. I prefer this method as I don't have to weed through a ton of unencrypted channels. :sorry: I should have been more patient.
