I have an intend switching to Windows 7. Currently running a trial with only Win7 Ultimate N, K-Lite Standard Codec Pack and MP installed. Well, also Chrome and Total Commander and Media Player Classic HT. Can't get any cleaner. Basic skin.
The trouble. N version has no Media Center or Windows Media Player. Deploy tool insited to download and instal WMP 11 (I think) files. Well I thought, its just redistributable stuff. Unfortunatly, deploy tool was requesting the XP version which could not be setup, invalid application message by Win7. Could not run the MP. Even though deploy tool would mark it as installed. So I had to install whole Windows Media Center for Win7... and dissable it so it wouldn't start with remote keys :/
Maybe there is some other way. What MP needs WMP for? Just some common files, maybe we can have just those, why install something you dont actually need.
PC runs fine, but MP crashes whole PC during video playback, no reports from watchdog since it goes straight to blue screen.
The reason to install Win7 is new Graphics Card and more RAM and possibly new Sound Card. And my XP setup got kinda messed up and needs clean setup anyway, though it does not crash.
