Hi. I’m still a newbie when it comes to using MP so I don’t know if this question has been answered before or not, I did do a search but couldn’t find anything similar to my problem.

When I try to use the My Trailers plugin it works fine up to the point when I want to actually view the trailer. I click on it and the screen goes all garbled and then it turns green and I can’t exit MP. I have to end the task and then my windows desktop is all garbled up as well. I can solve this by refreshing the desktop but when I try to load up MP again it is also garbled, so to use MP properly again I have to restart Windows.

I’ve downloaded Windows Media Player v10 but it still does the same thing. Do I need to uninstall WMP completely and install a fresh copy or is it a codec thing? I have the DIVx, Xvid and Real alternative codecs installed so far, do I need to install more?

My System Specs,

Toshiba Satellite Laptop
Pentium 4 2.5Ghz Processor
512 Mb RAM
Nvidea GeForce4 420G 32Mb With TV Out
200Gb+ Available Hard Disk Space
All running on Win XP SP2

Also my internet connection is really fast so i don't think it's that.:D

I assume it is DX9 compatible because i have DX9 on my laptop :D
MP works flawlessly with my 32Mb card. The only problem i ever have with my card is running 3d graphic intensive games. 2D graphics run really quick on it. Perhaps the requirements should be changed on the MP home page?? ;)

I can watch videos and DVD's on MP fine, it's just when try and stream trailers with the plugin i get problems. I think it's probably a codec problem. What codecs are required for the trailers?

MP uses Windows Media Player to stream files, so it should work without installing any codecs. Try to play a trailer in MP then look in the MediaPortal.log for something like: gplayer.play( mms://.... ) <- try to open that url in Windows Media Player if you get to same result then there is something wrong with your WMP-install.
