ok gurus i'm puzzled.. so i'm setting up a new HTPC with Vista Ultimate.
Now my tv overscans so in windows mode i have the resolution set to 1600 x 1200 so can see everything.. but in using media centers screen calibration i setup the screen to 1080i. So when it goes between windows and VMC the screen flickers and everything fits perfectly. What exactly is hapening here? why cant this also happen in windows mode? what kind of plugin to look for or what can i do?

Not the answer you are looking for, but ATi (and nVidia IIRC) has very "overscan friendly" settings in their control panel. Is this not the case for Intel?

not really... i've tried using powerstripe (i think that was its name)
and also a hack on the Intel drivers.... but it didnt work...

for about 2 weeks i was soo discouraged/pissed that i wasted soo much money putting this box together....
but then i took a break from the display to work on MP itself and fell in love with it again... MP is an awesome tool/program...

so now i'm back with my display issues...

Got rid of the intel display

well i got fed up messing with intel and its inadequacy of making a good HTPC video card/chip although the G45/G35 chipset was stated to be mainly for HTPC use...

i got me an ATI card 4550 and its works great.. everything fits... i'm soo pleased right now..

guys dont go with intel... either get ATI or Nvidia for you HTPC's

^ That has been my thought always. Glad you sorted it out - even though it was not the way you hoped to :)
