Hi all,

I was just giving win xp 64 a go (msdn ;)) and I can't install MP on it, the installer won't let me and quits...
Is there anyway around this at all? I don't see why vista and 7 are supported but only this one isn't, well it's based upon win 2003 so that might be some of it.
The reason why I choose this OS is cause it takes up less space on my vertex. But since I also have 8 GB of RAM in the machne (which will serve as a large ramdisk mostly) I guess I should be installing win 7. reluctantly :)

Don't mind my complaining, just wondering if there's some way to get it installed on this OS

Well yeah I noticed, I was just wondering why since the other 64 bit consumer OS'es are supported.
Oh well, going to windows 7 then. I'll just abuse the install a bit with vlite to make it more compact.

    WindowsXP x64 is missing a lot of fixes when it comes to directx. This is why is "banned" in the installer.

    I have also to warn you that vlited OS is not supported by the Team.

    @chemmelli:

    thanks for the heads up and the explanation, makes sense. I already have a vlited install going cause 30GB of vertex is kinda small for 7 especially if you need about 1/4 free space to keep it in tip top shape. If everythings stable (still HUGE S3 sleep issues) I'll be sure to mention it in my system specs, at least all windows setup logs show me the setup is all in the clear.
