If you're able to troubleshoot your problem and find a proper solution to this, then please may you try to post a SF patch enabling the "hooking" of the FFDShow processor to the DirectShow player.

If you only want to enable some kind of DSP support, then I know that this filter http://www.dsp-worx.de/?n=4 does the job too. It may behave better than FFDShow.

FlipGer: OK, I was wrong previously. The ffdshow filter that was just "sitting" in the graph was "ffdshow raw video filter" and the reason for this was the post processing option turned on in MP.

I tried to look carefully why some WMV files use FFDSHOW audio decoder (as they should) and why other don't. Well it seems that those that fail to load FFDSHOW are 24bit 48khz 6 channels, while those that use FFDSHOW are 2 channels 16bit 44khz.

I tried to unregister "WMAudio Filter DMO" and force MP to use FFDSHOW. As expected, It didnt work for the 24bit 48khz 6 channel files. It makes we wonder if maybe FFDSHOW has issues with 24bit 48khz 6 channel audio.

The reason it always works outside MP is because FFDSHOW is used in the graph only after "WMAudio Filter DMO", so I guess the sample size is changed.

So to summarize it:
16bit 44khz 2 channel audio plays with FFDSHOW directly either inside MP or outside.
24bit 48khz 6 channel audio plays with WMAudio Filter DMO connected to FFDSHOW Audio Filter outside MP. Inside MP, only WMAudio Filter is used.

Still no workaround...

    Hi,

Maybe the next version (0.2.0.5) of MP can help a bit. I implemented the feature to include custom DirectShow filters to playback. This was intended to the use of video filters like the ffdshow raw filter and MoMoLight. It might also work for ffdshow audio filter.

Flip, that feature will most probably not make it as it is into 0.2.0.5. The listing will be filtered. You might wanna have a chat with rtv and/or DMAN about it.

    Hi,

mPod: Thanks for the info. Will try to contact them. That filtering of the listing was something I also wanted to implement, but I did not have a good idea.

granx: still the question what ffdshow build you use.

I use latest build: 2006-08-28. It happend also with earlier builds.

I still don't get it why FFDSHOW Audio Filter refuses to connect to the WMV file directly when the audio stream is 24bit 48khz 6 channels.

    Anyone has an idea?

Maybe it's related to the "Processing" category in FFDSHOW. There you can choose the "Allowed sample formats for sound processing". The only options there are: 16bit int, 32bit int, 32bit float and no 24bit. Maybe this is the reason?

for me it seems like a mp bug, but i am not sure.
at least ffdshow is able to play 24 bit pcm audio files.

can you convert the wmv to avi (or sth else), mux the uncompressed audio to it and check if it will play correct then in mp?

sadly i have no 6 ch pcm files to test it myself.

More testing reveal a more bothering issue. The WMV files I'm trying to play contain 6 channel WMAPro audio track. The WMAudio Decoder DMO downmix the audio to 2 channels although my system is setup to 5.1 speakers.

This happens both in MP and in standalone Graphedit. In MPC it works fine.

    Anyone got an idea?

15/10/2007 [14:04h] dman_LFC added: Enabled 5.1 sound in WMV files when using the WMAudio Decoder DMO filter (which is default).

I still have this problem. 2.0 in Media Portal and Graph, but 5.1 in everything else.
