I don't know if this is the right place for this question:

I have a dedicated tv server and multiple tvclients. When i restart the tvservice on my server the clients give an "connection to tvservice lost". Thats clear to me, but if my client runs mediaportal and do nothing(main menu) it gives the error also.

The only workaround is to restart mediaportal on the client otherwise my tvguide won't work.

To restart MP i use my remote control to exit mediaportal, take the mouse and start mediaportal again.

Does someone know a better workaround?
I know that there is an IR suite so i can use restart.vbs to restart MP,but i don't want any other tools on my client(less is more ;))

it would be nice that MP could reinitialize the connection or something like that.

:D

I have the same setup, a dedicated TV server and multiple clients. I'm using Power Scheduler to put the TV server in standby mode when not used.

When the TV server enters standby, MP clients gets "connection to tv service lost" message. The MP clients then needs to be restarted to get access to the TV service again. The TV server itself is of course set up to wake on network activity, and it wakes when clients wants to access the tv service, but a restart of the client is always required.

The "connection to tv service lost" is also a bit annoying since it causes clients to stop when playing music.

Actually I haven't received this message prior to MP1.0.

    Hi,
I get the same problem - I have a seperate TV server / client configuration - when I put my client to sleep I get the "connection to tv service lost" message when it wakes up and I have to restart MP on the client.

I never had this before 1.0.0.0.

Any ideas? Would be great to be able to fix.

I have no problems when the MP clients enter standby first and then the TV server. When a MP client resumes from standby the TV server also resumes from standby and a connection is established and TV is working.

But when the TV server goes into stanby first I always get the connection lost message, even if MP clients are idle (not watching TV). The MP client is then unable to watch TV, looking at open ports it seems that the client is connected to the server.

I was looking in the log files for both client and server and couldn't find anything of interest.

Hi Guzzi - just thought I'd let you know - my problem goes away if I change my sleep preference in Windows (Vista) to allow hybrid sleep: on. Weird problem but this workaround is reliable for me. :)
