In Australia, many of the FTA digital channels are running the exact same programming (at the moment). For example, ABC 1, ABC 3 and ABC HDTV are all the same programming. Initially I set these up as unique guide channels in WebEPG. In other words for each channel in the example above, I was pulling down the exact same data for each channel, and then mapping the unique WebEPG guide channels to the TV Server channels in a 1:1 mapping inside the xmltv plugin mapping. All working well so far. But, it was just taking a lot of extra time to download separate guides for each channel, so I thought I could map the common guide channel to the multiple TV Server channels.... and that's where the trouble started. There is absolutely no problem with WebEPG..... it is creating the tvguide.xml file with all the data I expect. There is something very strange with the xmltv mapping function, and I think it gets all screwed up when you map one WebEPG guide channel to multiple TV Server channels. In my specific example, I was mapping ABC 1 guide to ABC 1, ABC 3 and ABC HDTV TV Server channels. The result was that all the channels listed in the guide before the multiple mapping failed to load data. From the import, it looked like the right number of channels and programs were being loaded, but they were not being displayed by the guide. There were some other weird permutations and combinations of this as I messed around with it, but it's too hard to explain here. You seem to also need to "blank out" all the mappings and save them to sort of reset them properly too. The root cause seems to be mapping a single guide channel to multiple TV Server channels. Reset all the mappings back to a 1:1 mapping, and all is good again. I would have thought it would be ok to map multiple TV Server channels to the one guide channel.
