Hi,

I have Powerscheduler running with MPStandbyHandler (Plugin) to ensure the machine goes to sleep and wakes for recordings.

I'm after a step by step setup with both of these activated to enable an automatic upload of the xmlTVNZ EPG.

My understanding is that the EPG Powerscheduler process has bugs and causes recording issues in Release 3 or unstability within MP. I have tried using these settings anyway and they do not work.

I guess I'm turning to New Zealand and some other Kiwi's who have managed to get this working.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

Graham

Hi,

I'm using MP with TV Server on the same machine i.e. use My TV within MP to watch and record TV - is that what you mean? It's called "single seat" correct? Sorry, I'm a bit new to Media Portal.

You mention "scraper" - what is this? I'm using xmlTVNZ which works fine by manually executing a "bat" file, so I'm just keen to get this working automatically and waking up the machine from sleep.

You mention a solution coming out in a few days - I'm happy to manually update in the meantime.

I notice you are in Auckland. Are you near Royal Oak?

Cheers

Ah well if you've already got a copy of revens xmltnz you don't need to wait for me to get the scraper i'm working on up and running. You've already got a working one :D

When i mention a scraper, i'm just referring to what xmltvnz does, it scrapes epg data from a bunch of different websites and uses that data to build your tv guide. <-- real lamens terms but should make sense.

setting up an auto update for your epg is pretty easy.

for winxp Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Scheduled Tasks (double click add Scheduled task)

for vista Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Task Scheduler (go to action click create new task) dont use basic task as it won't allow you to bring the computer out of sleep mode

if you let me know which os you use i can create a more detailed guide, this might be all you need though.

Also I live in the Gardens at Manurewa, so I'm close but not real close.

Hey Omen,

Thanks for the reply. I was aware of the Task Scheduler, however I was sceptical that this would work with Powerscheduler, which is what I'm using to wake the machine and record.

I will give it a bash and let you know how it goes.

At the moment my machine is not waking at all to record - not sure what is going on, but need to get this sorted first.

Thanks again.

Hi All,

Been a bit disappointed with getting no response on my issue, but in the end I worked it out.

In the "bat" file you create to download xmlTVNZ, I had to put the path of the "xmlTVNZ.exe file, otherwise Powerscheduler doesn't specifically know where to look to execute it. The shortcut worked because the "bat" file was in the same place as the "xmlTVNZ.exe" file.

In my case, I had all the files in C:\Program Files\TVNZ directory, so my "bat" file looks like this:

"c:\Program Files\TVNZ\xmlTVNZ.exe" tvguide.xml -days 8 tvnzfv_tv1 tvnzfv_tv2 tvnzfv_tv3 tvnzfv_c4 tvnzfv_tvnz6 tvnzfv_tvnz7 tvnzfv_tvnzsportextra tvnzfv_parliamenttv tvnzfv_maori tvnzfv_tvcentral default_prime default_juice

All you need to do then is put the "bat" file in the command box of the Powerscheduler EPG grabber task and it works. This also means you don't have to worry about the Task Scheduler task and it's all in 1 place.

Cheers

Graham

Hi Omen,

Yeah, it was something simple in the end and it's all working really well in Powerscheduler which was ultimately what I was after. I have to admit, I had another forum running on this issue from a different angle and replied with the comment in that forum and then copy / pasted the comment into this case so other users knew the solution, however I did not check all the replies I received i.e. yours.

I have to appologise and say that your post actually put me in the right direction. I found that Task Scheduler in Windows however did not work initially as I needed the internet up and running to pull the EPG and had issues getting it to wait, however sitting at the desktop I also noticed the EPG grabber scroll quickly which made me realise I had to put the path in to get it work i.e. it could not find the file. With that sorted, I then realised it would work in Powerscheduler.

Sooooooo ........ :D for your help Omen.

I appreciate all the feedback you gave me.

Regards

Graham
