I for the life of my cant figure out why my system is crashing when i try to use hardware decoding with VMR9 on standard DVD. I have tried reformatting xp and reinstall everything. I am using powerDVD 7.3 and catalyst 8.9 drivers on a 780g mobo (radeon HD3200 graphix) and when i try to watch a movie it will play a few frames then crash my whole system. Now if i play a movie using hardware decoding in pdvd istelf I get no crashing. Also if I use the EVR instead if VMR9 it works in MP rc2 however I get noticeable tearing in videos (ESPECIALLY x264). Is this a classic case of crappy ATI drivers? Or am I doing something wrong. it used to work flawlessly :\, right now i am using the software decoder for dvd that comes with MP. However I think the video quality that comes off the hardware decoder to be better.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
