hmm i dont use wmp11 and i can play all movies dvds iso even with no problems.here is the list of what it plays ,avi,mpg,ogm,mpeg,mkv,ifo,qt,rm,mov,sbe,dvr-ms,ts,dat,mp4,kvcd,skvcd,divx,iso.i use daemon tools to mount the iso so it plays with 0 problems and if you choose to use another player make sure that you set the other player to always be on top of windws.that way you wont get just sound with no picture.i been at this for some time now and have it tweaked just right so it dont crash and plays and runs fast.remember this is freeware so instead of whining about this dont work and that dont work just take some time to figure things out and do some reading :)

So...., are you saying you've got a way around the requirement for WMP11 in the latest svn's? Please elaborate

Latest BDA related fixes are requiring WMP11 dlls so that they can be registered.

I assume that BDA stands for Bluray Disk Associaton? If so, then why are these fixes required when BluRay is not even supported by MediaPortal?

I like to keep my HTPC as clean as possible from everything I do not need. I would therefore like it very much if the installation of WMP11 will become optional again with the final release MP 1.0.0.0. Just specify which funtionality you will be missing without WMP11 installed and leave it up to the user to accept it.

Giving up MediaPortal just because you don't like WMP11 is not really an option, since MP is still the best MultiMedia program out there.
MP Rocks :D

BDA does not stand for Bluray Disk Association lol.

It is to do with video (tv, satellite etc) It stands for Broadcast Driver Architecture.

In case you have Media Center Edition 2002 which by defualt does not support Windows Media Player 11, here a trick from other BBS:

    1) download Media Player 11 exe (wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe) to a folder
    2) Install 7-Zip from 7-Zip
    3) Run 7-Zip and have it extract the files from wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe into another folder (eg: c:\download\wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu)
    4) Run C:\download\wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu\wmfdist11.exe
    5) Run C:\download\wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu\wmp11.exe

Now WMP11 is installed and you can install MediaPortalRC3
