On my computer the path is

    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log

I have a file called install_1.2.2.0_2011-12-22_18-47-35 - the date and time would vary.

Thread created to move away from 1.2.2 release comment thread, upgrade installation problems posted in that thread will be moved here, or create a new one.

    Thanks

    Here is the log.

    And here is the problem.

    Code:
[ INFO] A GIT version (24) of MP is installed. Update is not supported.

So at some point you installed a GIT test build.

Updating from these is not supported, but for some reason although it was detected, it did not prevent you updating.

We need to track this down in the installer.

It is in my log as well and I have never before installed a GIT test build version.
I think I still was on the 1.2 RC version before this upgrade.

My upgrade went very smooth and 1.2.2 ran immediately without problem.

I don't know what a GIT is. I only install the software available from the the MediaPortal site when an upgrade is announced.

Is there a solution or do I have to delete MP and reinstall it? Kind of annoying for a tested patch.

So what version of MediaPortal were you using before? 1.2.1 ? If you have never tried any sort of test build (which may have been linked from the forums) then we have a different problem from the one I think it is.

Well, you could always ask for your money back, if you feel that MediaPortal isn't worth the asking price!

Please remember that the testers are all volunteers with day jobs, families, etc.

However, if you look in your user folder, AppData (for me the full path is

    C:\Users\Mark\AppData\Local\Temp\MediaPortal Installation\deploy

obviously your username will be different, and it may be different for other operating systems)

    You will see two files

    package-mediaportal.exe
    package-tvengine.exe

these are the relevant parts of the installer. Run them in turn, and follow the (fairly obvious) instructions to run the update again.

AppData is a system folder, so you may have to make it visible using 'Folder and Search Option' (view tab).

I was running 1.2. The 1.2.1 version didn't really apply to me since I don't use the TV part. I will try that when I get home today.

    Thank you for your help.

    Re: MediaPortal 1.2.2 RELEASED!

I am having the exact same problem. How does one extract the the EXEs from the installer?
I opened the installer .exe with 7-zip. Inside is another .exe "deploy-mediaportal.exe" which you also open inside 7-zip. Inside that are the MediaPortal.exe and Configuration.exe files. The full path is:

    ~\MediaPortal_Setup_1.2.2_FINAL.exe\deploy\package-mediaportal.exe\$[59]\

Replacing just those two files seemed to work for me for my problem. The thread I started about it is here.

I unfortunately don't seem to have an installation log in my logs directory to look at. Not sure why?
