Yes... though it differs a bit for cable, because there is more spectrum available => more channels => higher channel numbers.

    @RonD
Here's a TsWriter that should fix your major channel number bug.
Please could you do a quick test.

Wow Guys!! Looks like a lot of great work!
Using the first set of files I did 3 scans.
    pass 1: 363 found
    pass 2: 8 found
    pass 3: 4 found
Good news, total found higher than I have ever seen. Channel info looks better.

Replaced the tsWriter and tsLibrary files with the latest ones from the thread and started a new scan.
Will update when scan's are done

Did 2 back to back scans with the newest files.
    First pass 360 found
    Second pass 5 new found

Things appear to be comming along very positive!!
Later today (whithout changing any channel names) I am going to turn Schedules Direct back on and find out what it see's. I have a feeling it is going to be Very Positive!

Is there anything at all you all would like see tested?
I was also thinking about verifying the OTA digital still works tonight...

    mm,

tried the new TsWriter file and it fixes my OTA channel scan problem for those channels. Now I get all the expected major channel numbers and auto-channel numbers from a scan. This is also using the new tvlibrary and QAM tuning files.

    KKPX ION Freq:-1 ONID:0 TSID:405 SID:3 PMT:0x30 FTA:True LCN:65001 phys:41 maj:65 min:1
    TeleFutura Freq:-1 ONID:0 TSID:433 SID:1 PMT:0x30 FTA:True LCN:66001 phys:34 maj:66 min:1

today is a "bad scan" day at my location, I needed to do 2 scans to find most of my channels. see attached logs.

I also tried modifying the MePoConfig > TV "Channel num max length field", set it to 2 and I see all 5 channel number digits in EPG, set it to 5 (max), and also see all 5 digits. No idea that that setting is changing.

I turned back on Schedules Direct..
Great Part...Almost all channels appear to be discovered.
Bad #1: Both Unknown xx.yy and found SD channels are now listed (360? orig - now 687 channels)
Bad #2: SD channels are labeled as Channel not mapped to a card
Bad: #3: Those labeled as channel not mapped also are marked as Channel Number 10000

Okay. Keep in mind that SD is a 3rd party plugin, and this is where I start to get to the end of my knowledge.
In other words, if you want to sort out SD then you probably need help from other people and should start a new thread.

    Nice.

I don't understand how SD works. I know that in certain circumstances it will create channels for you, and to be honest I really don't like that.
Reason being that there is no guarantee that the channels will actually work unless they're actually scanned in.
So I'm sorry but you'll have to ask somebody else about this.

Bad #2: SD channels are labeled as Channel not mapped to a card
That's because SD has created the channels, and that mapping issue trips up a lot of newbies. Another reason I really don't like it.

Bad: #3: Those labeled as channel not mapped also are marked as Channel Number 10000
    This is something I reported.
Make sure you're using the most up-to-date version:

I was just looking to see what would happen.
As for the multi scan being needed to find all the channels and any other tests / fixes you would like to explore, what would you like from me....
I am this far into this, I am more than happy to continue. Besides, the new Server is still being built so I might as well drive this one into the ground....

    Excellent! :)

FYI (to both you and breese): the new tuning files will be in the next release of MP. The TsWriter and name/LCN tweak will have to wait.

today is a "bad scan" day at my location, I needed to do 2 scans to find most of my channels. see attached logs.
This seems to be due to signal strength/quality.
I've analysed your log file and it seems strength in the 70s and quality below 50 is indicative of low/bad signal for you.
The difference between the two scans is 5 channels.
    4 from phys 28 and 1 from phys 40.
Those two channels had basically the lowest signal strength and quality readings in your log file.
There's nothing MP can do about this...

I also tried modifying the MePoConfig > TV "Channel num max length field", set it to 2 and I see all 5 channel number digits in EPG, set it to 5 (max), and also see all 5 digits. No idea that that setting is changing.
I meant to test this last night but forgot.
Again, I don't think the setting is meant to limit or pad what you see displayed.
It is a zap (changing channel) thing for MP... so MP knows how many numbers to expect you to press on your remote when you change channel.

the channel scans this morning were worse than typical, it was hot/windy. I probably need to move my antenna by 6 inches to reduce multipath a little. Scans in the morning are normally better than in the afternoon but not today. I'm only about 25-30 miles from the transmitter tower
