Hi,

Can i run media portal on a machine with:
1 ghz
256 mb ram
Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150 or Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150MCE (oem)

I thaught the pvr 150 has an mpeg encoder.

I want also to record Tv-shows.

    Hi,

these are low specs, but since the 150 is a HW card it should work. What graphics card do you use? It is recommended to use a DirectX 9 compatible. I would also spend 256 MB more to the machine. Since XP needs much itself.

    Flip.

You can use a via epia MII 10000 with 1 GHZ but how Flip told you use 512MB!!!.

After 14 Days with testing drivers install windows again and agian i have since yesterday a nice running system with this specs.

    Via EpiaMII 10000
    512 MB (really important!)
PVR 250 (hope for change to PVR350 next week)
    Samsung 160 GB
    Version 0.1.0.3
    Skin MCE

    Watching TV with/without Timeshift works
Recording from TV (with EPG in German) works
    Hear music works
    Pictureshows (with music) works
    Watching DVD works
    Watching S(VCD), DIVX works

I only have some problems whith fast forward and backward but cant repruduce it at the moment but this isnt a real problem for the moment.

hope this was helpfull for you

    merci

    Thanks for the reactions.

I think i'm going to try it the next week.
It's better to purchase a pvr 150MCE (with ati remote wonder) than a PVR 150 with the hauppauge remote i think.
The next 256mb can i purchase later.

I just got a PVR-150 w/remote at Best Buy for $89.99 web only special.

Works pretty good, still putting it through it's paces, playing with the remote.

    PVR-150
    PIII 1Ghz
    512M RAM
    60GB WD 8MB buffer HD
Nvidia 64MB video card w/tv out

If you think some of these config's are under spec'ed check mine out.

    Win2k
    ECS k7s5a Mobo
    1 GHZ AMD Duron
    256mb DDR ram
WinTV PVR 150 (Retail - non MCE)
    30 and 80gig HD's
ATI Rage Fury Pro 32mb w/VIVO

All built into a 10year old Gateway Desktop AT Case that I had to modify the hell out of just to get the mobo to fit. This thing was almost free. The only parts I didn't pull out of my spare parts pile was the PVR 150 and the 80 gig HD(Christmas presents).

I'm able to Watch TV, Record, Timeshift, Play music, Everthing You want to do with Media Portal. I run into some issues once and a while and some functions are slow but it works very well considering the low spec's.

What is the lowest spec's people have been able to make work? Without to much sacrifice in function that is,

Could you post the name of the selected codecs?

It was recommended that I use Intervideo DVD codecs to have porper timeshift in the past.. It helped alot..
But maybe the problems were related to something else, which is gone with the actuall version..

My system Atholon 1400 runs at nearly 100% CPU with timeshift on.. so it wuld be a good idea to have a more "efficient" codec/tuning.. even when sacrifing a little bit quality
    :)

    I'm running on
    Hauppauge 150 MCE
    1Ghz AMD Athlon
    256 MB RAM
    32 MB Matrox G400

All MP features are do'able, but I get jerky TV-playback (the recorded video, however, looks astonishing).

I think my gfx card is the problem.

Can you list the codecs you are using? I cannot get mine (pvr 150) to work
    Thanks!
