Monitor timings. Look in your graphics card settings.

or if you actually want useful information, try posting your spec.

OK then.

Shuttle SN27P2
Geforce 7600 GS 256MB
AMD X2 64 4200+
2GB DDR2-800
Realtek 7.1 audio
Samsung LN-S4695D 46" 1080p LCD via DVI-> HDMI

I can't see any monitor timings to adjust that would help. But please advise based on that, if you can. :)

Are you running a custom resolution? Up to you if you want to try this, because it may not be your cause, I had made an assumption about your situation that probably doesn't apply to digital connections.

The monitor timing information is in the 'Display/Manage custom timings' section in the NVIDIA control panel. If you can create one for your screens pixel resolution, then you can change the 'Auto' option to a range of different settings. The scaling option is also worth experimenting with.

My only other suggestion is if you have the 'Change display (flat panel) scaling' option, change it.

well, i guess i'm in the club too :(
    mp 0.2.2.0+svn (three days old)
playing only some video files (divx) gives me the black full screen, windowed is ok. unfortunattly can't get fullscreen video with stop/play trick. same video files plays well with other players ofcourse.
never saw this behaviour with 0.2.2.0 stable...

I also believe it is a bug, any changes made to monitor timings shouldn't be considered permanent.

Logic is a many splendored thing

AH!!! It all makes sence when you look at it upside down and back to front.

Go to your settings ---> Ui calibrate and calibrate the poop out of ya LCD/PLASMA

Notice no YE oldie Vintage CRT's not having this problems... ;)

You are either overscanning or underscanning and cant get a pic...just had the same problem when I updated to the new CVS. Had me scratching my head for a while.

Hope this helps anyone that has a similar fault.

    Wow - it worked !!!
I hadn't realized the problem was to do with the PC being hooked upto the new LCD. We were getting really sick of pressing stop and then play again.

    Thanks a heap !!! Really appreciate it.:) :) :) :D

OK, I've been having this same issue since I've been using MP, happy w/it otherwise but it's annoying. I play a ripped or physical DVD, and get a blank screen. I used to think it was just ripped DVD's and hence didn't really make a stink about it since they're sort of out of their element to begin with, but I tried a physical DVD tonight and had the same issue.

You can tell the screen's sized right because you see a faint letterbox size screen, but it's blank. Pressing menu from 1 to 3 times solves the problem and the image pops up. I've tried 0.2.2 and 0.2.3 (current RC release as of tonite), this is on two different machines, one freshly reinstalled w/Windows, both different versions of drivers for the vid card (FX5200 in both, one of the few commonalities), both diff. motherboards, diff. brand TV's (both "old school" CRT TV's) etc. Basically, everything but the vid card is different. I will gather logs and specs when I get a chance and post but this seems to me like a very consistent thing. I've tried the calibration screens, changing around codecs, the DPI thing, and everything else I could find here and nothing helps. Guess I'm stuck pressing menu multiple times for now. Hope someone finds the bug eventually.

One other common thing is that both machines have Beyond TV installed but I just completely changed that version as well and the bug happens with or without BTV started (I realize it could have changed something that is affected even when it's not running but it works perfectly). And yes, I am considering using MPTV :D

TIA for ANY leads that anyone can give me. I'll post logs/specs soon.

    Another answer ??

I've just today tried this ...

    Goto the setup program,
    Decoder Filters,
    Descaler Video Decoder

and de-select Use Accurate Aspect Ratios.

I think it works - can anyone else confirm this ??
