MediaPortal 2 Version: 2.1.3

Description
As first reported in this thread.

I have the 2-disc version of "Das Boot", ripped and stored in VIDEO_TS format in the following folder structure:

\DAS BOOT (1981) DISK 1
..\VIDEO_TS
..\AUDIO_TS
..\folder.jpg
\DAS BOOT (1981) DISK 2
..\VIDEO_TS
..\AUDIO_TS
..\folder.jpg

After importing, I only see a single "cover" in the library (using any view). When I click on it, it automatically plays disk 2. No options to manage the way the disks are merged are presented during import.

I use the WMC skin, but this affects all skins.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Rip multi-disk movie in VIDEO_TS format.
2) Arrange folders as above.
3) Import into movie library,

@henso I guess something for you. From my understanding no dialog is corrrect, but Disk 1 should be played and then Disk 2.
Only if there are 2 different versions of a movie the dialog will ask which to play, or?

I just tried deleting the media source and re-importing all my movies from scratch. I still only get one cover for Das Boot, but now only disk one will play.

I can fix that multi part discs are not detected correctly for DVD folders, but how can the DVD player handle multi disc movies? After playback it will return to the menu and play the next disc, right?

I have never checked this combination as I also don't have such media here. I think it could not work at all, because an automatic skip to next part happens only at playback end. And as most DVDs might just return to a menu, the "media end" does not happen at all. And there would be a conflict between chapter and title skips, both are handled by single DVD player already and those action won't affect the playlist in background.

Is there any way to simply stop MP2 from combining both disks into a single item in the movie library and just treat them as two separate films?

for me the name of folder is not good
DISK 1 / DISK 2 mean Stacked version, so it's an continuous movie,
an better naming is VERSION 1 / VERSION 2
at least MP will found it as different movie. and allow ask for play which movie you want.
if it's really different movie like Avatar / Avatar Extended version
make nfo of your movie and set the Name on it.

But from what I understand from above, it's about a multi disk DVD movie, so version would be misleading here. It's the same version, but consisting of two disks. Different version would mean, that e.g. one is default and the other movie an extended version.
    1) Rip multi-disk movie in VIDEO_TS format.

Yes, that's what I say, 2-disc, not 2-version. I'm not sure, how you come to versions. Both have the same name, so same version:
    • DAS BOOT (1981) DISK 1
    • DAS BOOT (1981) DISK 2
