Hey, i am using the newest MP version and have some problems playing 4k Movies. The color saturation is too low and the contrast is also kind of low. I tryed Windows Mediaplayer (yes, the old one) and have the same Problem. Using the newer Player in Windows solves the problem but the movie is to dark.
i tried on an other client and it is working correctly, so the file is ok. Full HD movies are great and ther are no problems like this with 4K.
Any ideas?

Hey,
hmm, i don't think the hardware ist bad. Also the drives are up to date. As i wrote, everything is working, just the isues with 4k. It also play it smoth, just the colours and contrast. I think, maybe a codec problem, or some settings which i don't know.

My System is:
AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with Radeon Vega Graphics, 16GB RAM, WIn11 Pro, LAV Filters 0.77.2, M.2 SSD, MP is 1.31.0
Do i missed something important?

The Movies are on an Synology NAS, and the Network is 1Gbit, bis it doesen't metter, becouse this happens also when the file is on the ssd.
ANd i don't get any error messages or somethins like this...

Is this HDR movies? I think you need to enable HDR in Windows settings and use MadVR in MediaPortal as video renderer.

    Hi.
It would be helpful to have the mediainfo output of the video making problems...

It could be e.g. a DolbyVision (DV) video without HDR10+ metadata. This is not correct as normally DV videos contains HDR10+ metadata too as a fallback for not DolbyVision compatible player/hardware. . But often the HDR metadata was stripped during ripping/modifying and after that the video only is playable in a full DV compatible chain.

But there are many other possibilities so without mediainfo it only is guessing...

    Hi.
This Video is coded in a slightly older Version of Dolby Vision. It isn't even HDR10+ compatible. Just a guess, but this could be the reason..

    "HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible"
    vs.
    "HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version 1, HDR10+ Profile B compatible".

from a more recent video (2022)

Probably the screen on your HTPC isn't able to understand this special version of DV and your PC screen can. Or the player on your PC is converting the DV format during playback. VLC is known for doing things like this to always guarantee a nice video playback. Can you install VLC on your Media Center and see, if the video is playing well then? If not, the possibility is high, that your TV isn't able to show this video properly.

Aside this I can't see any relevant differences that could explain your issue. And the issue definitely is based on the HDR side. Your screenshots are a proof that this is a HDR issue.

Hey, thanks for your info. After looking and trying different things, it works now and i feel a litle bit like an idiot :D
MadVR helps here as already told but i thought i have to configure it somwere in codecs and i didn't see, that the config is in video renderer. After choosing "Madshi's Video Renderer" and "Use EVR for LiveTV" it works now.
    Thanks for your help!
