Help,

I'd really like to be able to play the ABC iview videos in media portal. But I'm really struggling.

If you have been able to get it to work can you please export or share the details as I have no idea what the details required to get it to work.

Thanks

I'm keen on this too - I believe there was a feature request posted about this in relation to the "online videos" plugin, but the people working on that have got a lot of requests from people ot add stuff, and I assume iview is relatively difficult to implement. unfortunately i know absolutely nothing of value to help in putting anything together :-(

Hi doskabouter!
I don't have a VPN, but I'm willing to help however I can. I tried to work through the create a regex.dll, but didn't have much luck. I'm not exactly sure what content I need to "lift" from the web page source and what it needs to look like. I'm a n00b at this end of things....
Here's what I did:
I tried using this address as the base address:
http://tviview.abc.net.au/iview/rss
but the site creator crashed (with an error)

so I shortened it to:
http://tviview.abc.net.au/iview
and it read that and took me to a page
I clicked on of the buttons and it spent a little time and it gave a list of (approximately) 36000 items each with subcategories of title etc.. But these didn't appear populated.
when I went to the subcategory section and clicked update, it crashed again, this time the thinking circle for a very very long time more than 30 minutes!

This was all on Win7 32bit.

Not sure if this'll help but heres the categories for the RSS feed:

did a bit more in case it helps:
I loaded the rss feed into my agregator and one example take you to:
http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/program/701503

which has a bunch of information about the show and a "play" button over a picture that in my browser is a Flash 10 item.

    Wow! you're quite thorough!

Although without the possibility to play a video, and track what's going on, I'm afraid I can't help right now

I would like to get this working...

could you get me a little more info on how to get the regex constructed...what it actually needs to contain? or tips (better than currently in help file) on how to go about it?

With my current efforts I don't even get a list of files/videos in MP, so not even able to start debugging.

would an Aussie proxy help (If i can find one  )?

    Cheers

I thought I'd see if Aunty would help out....but unfortunately the response was extremely disappointing.....

They just deleted my first post without any explanation.

Then after a follow up query (ABC Message Board - iView - Messages)

    they stated:

    Hi,

Unfortunately, we had to remove your thread. Due to contractual rights and agreements we can only stream iview content on the ABC website... or in an official iview player on certain devices. Hope this clarifies the situation for you.

    Cheers,
    Mod.

(quoted here in case they delete it again!)

    My response:

Thanks for your response, however it would have been more effective to state that in my first post instead of just deleting it. That way the others who follow would have been able to find it via a 'search' and not repeat my question.
I had high hopes for iView... but they are fading.
I'm guessing there's no chance of you writing an 'approved' plugin for each of mediaportal/XBMC/MediaCenter/...et al..?
If others have a go at writing them is there a way to get such app's 'submitted' for approval? or a way to know what standards they must meet to get approved?
I understand the difficulties you face when putting such content to the net and appreciate the efforts you take to do so. All I want is to be able to watch the content from my lounge chair with a remote control as part of my unmetered broadband.....

The site editor for version 0.27 seems to have trouble saving updates, so I have been manually entering them into the XML file...I got to the point where I have subcategories, but it times out before it reads any data to show thumbs or video lists.
