High, I installed my new Mediaportal System. Everything works fine but not my dolby 5.1 system. Music with upmixing to 5.1/7.1 is ok. But when I play movies with ac3 or not my rear, center and subwoofer stays quiet. I use AC3Filter with the same config like my old system. It seems that ac3filter doesn't start with mp ( no icon in tray ) what could be wrong here? Can someone help me to find the bug?

The speaker config is O.K. The test program controls all speakers in the right way.

I'm using AC3Filter on XP32 and MP RC2 and it works fine. I also have a Realtek sound device. What have you chosen as sound device? I think it should be "Default Direct Sound device on my system. Maybe it's a Vista problem?

Are you trying to use the digital out to your amp?? Have you checked SPDIF passthrough for AC3 / DTS bitstreams ??

It looks like a MP problem. It works Mediacenter Classic Homecinema.

Ah, OK i found something. It starts now on films with ac3 track. But I am sure that in my old config ( other HTPC ) it has mixed up the sound to 5.1 for all none ac3 content.

Any idea how fix this?

may I suggest you use something like graphedit (download for free from net) to view what codec it may be using. You might find that another codec has a higher merit (priority) and thus ac3filter does not get used. there are some useful threads in this forum and on the net as to how to use graphedit.

ummm..... S/PDIF is the connection format not the connector. Both optical and coax digital audio on mobos are S/PDIF you need to set the options to output DD/DTS via S/PDIF

Hm, ok I am really sure that I am not using s/pdif. I connected my system via chinch with 3 connectors. One for front, one for rear and one for center / sw.

OK a lot clearer now.... you are using 3 sets of cables with 3.5mm jacks on one end and phono jacks on the other (?) and not a digital coax cable which would be connected via SPDIF and outputting the DD/DTS bitstream straight to your amp.

I am however confused as to whether you have fixed the problem.... are you saying that DD/DTS now works in 5.1 but you want to upmix stereo signals to 5.1 too??

I've given AC3Filter up, the MS audio decoder does the passthrough without any problem.
