For a while now i have this issue with S3 that needs a specific workaround, let me explain maybe this helps in solving the general S3/S4 issues:

Working: To do a succesfull S3 + Wakeup sequence i have to use the top menu in mediaportal. I press the "shutdown" icon and choose Sleep. System goes into a S3 state and when i press a key on my keyboard the system wakes up and i continue within 3-5 seconds to have a perfect running mediaportal.

Not working: I press the power toggle button on the remote, in turn triggering the sleep mode (but i guess a little differently). System goes into a S3 state and when i press a key on the keyboard the system wakes up. But.. this time my TV doesn't get a signal. After this i need to restart the system to get a signal again.

    notes:

I'm also using Cybrdisplay plugin and because of this i can see that when the system wakes up (without the tv signal) mediaportal is active because i can navigate using the LCD. I can use it to navigate to do a Shutdown-Restart and after this the system reboots and the tv signal returns.

I am also using IR Server Suite and my remote is only active in MediaPortal, so the power toggle on the remote is mapped using MP but it's probably not the same function as choosing "sleep" in the top menu.

I can confirm that for me this issue was the same for:

    - Vista 32-bit Ultimate with RC1 and RC2
    - Vista 64-bit Ultimate with RC2 and RC3 ( i recently did a reinstall)

    I hope this helps.. a little ;)

    Hi,
Welcome to nice Vista behavior ;)
When you use the one on top bar, MP handles it & TV-Server can do what it needs before it enter S3/S4 state, when you use from remote or "power" button vista kicks everything to S3/S4 state without asking if everything it's ready for it & therefore you get the prob on resume again. This it's a new thing compared to XP where you could stop that process & continue/cancel it depending on whats needed, in Vista it suspends no matter what.........

    Regards
    Roy

My TV Server is located on a dedicated server but your explanation is what i figured..
What i don't understand is why the powertoggle can't be routed through mediaportal as my remote is only active inside MediaPortal. Like map that button to the function that's behind the top menu shutdown.
