First I want to thank for this great skin :)

Since a few versions - I don't know exactly with which my problem occured first and I had deleted the old versions already - my basic home screen is blank, no picture in background and no text in the menu bar. If I press cursor up all media is there again but if I move the mouse all media disappears. Any idea what is my problem? I would be very lucky if someone has a solution ;)

I use Win XP Pro SP3 with MediaPortal 1.0RC2.

Regards,
Buffo

I have exact the same issue.

Dos anyone have a fix for that issue? It's quite annoying, given my mouse seems to randomly move from time to time and this clears the home screen until I move the arrows.

We need a FAQ.. People answered this sooo many times :p

There is no way to fix this with the way the menu is created right now.. Ive spent hours trying to figure it out, and so have many others.. :-/ The thing is that for this menu to function, when Y has focus, xYz is visible. When Z has focus, yZa is shown, then zAb. etc. When you move the mouse you remove focus from Z(or whatever) and the menu dissappears because its not suppose to be visible. When you regain focus on the menu, it resets to the default item. You could make the menu reset on the default item whenever you remove focus from the menu I think, but thats the closest you get to a fix :(

I made a little mod for myself where I set a multiimage as default background (made sure its the one from my default menu item), this makes it look a bit better.

Ah I see.
Well, I only use one background, I've removed all the other ones as I find it distracting. Would there be a way to set it for good to prevent that? I assume that in this case the background wouldn't disappear, but the texts on the menu items would?

Yeah correct, you would loose the text on the menu items as well as the menu itself. You could probably with some tinkering, and if its desireable make the menubackground be visible when the menu doesnt have focus as well.

<control>
<description>DEFAULT BACKGROUND</description>
<type>image</type>
<id>99006</id>
<posX>0</posX>
<posY>0</posY>
<width>1366</width>
<height>768</height>
<texture>background.png</texture>
</control>

This is the control for the default background, just replace that .png with your background of choice. Its right at the top when you open basichome.xml
This will ensure that when you move the mouse, only the menu dissappears, not the background. Looks a bit cleaner at least.

edit:

To be more clear:
Either just replace the background.png in the media folder with your default background (keeping the "background.png" name, OR edit the <texture>yourimage.png</texture>. This image would have to be located in the media folder as well. Remeber to clear cache if you use the first option.

    So Darre you seem to be the resident skin god at the moment. Did I get it right in my #887 post above about how the "layers" are drawn on screen? There seem to be nothing about this in the wiki guide on skin making.

    Yes, think of it as layers.. The first layer is in the back and that is why the first control should be the background. The next thing would be any major textures, and so on. MP reads the xml's from top to bottom, so the last thing in the xml will go on top. If you put the background last in the .xml, it will cover up everything else.

    And I would not say skin god lol.. It would take me forever to create a skin of my own. I just spent some hours editing excisting ones :)

    I have a 16:10 monitor and Aeon Wide doesn't display things properly.....e.g. the date up in the top corner of the basic home screen exceeds the black background section for it. e.g.2. the red record button overlaps with txt :( ???

    Works great now, thanks a lot! Will those files be available through SVN or do I have to update them manually after each SVN renewal?[/QUOTE]

    Should be, if PD or Sambal noticed then....time to pack up my recent changes and mail them I think...

    I don't use a movie database ....so it there anyway to get rid of the 'info sidebar' in the my videos section?
    or is there anyway to read .nfo files (that come with downloaded video off the net) in the 'info sidebar'?

    Thanks for any help :)
